Working Groups

Implementation of a globally distributed SE project Design and plan experimental project(s) among 2 or more CPATH instructions; to be implemented soon. (more...)
Global SE course modules The aim of this working group is to produce a set of course modules suitable for incorporation into a typical undergraduate course in software engineering (as versus a course dedicated to internationalization or global software engineering). Courses incorporating these modules should be valuable preparation for a (distinct) capstone project course involving a distributed international team. (more...)
Cross-cultural communications course module Develop a course module that will provide computer science students with soft skills helping them to be productive members of professional information technology teams that include representatives of different cultures. (more...)
Cultural HCI course models Define curriculum module in the area of cross-cultural HCI to be used in an Intro to HCI course. Builds on the concept of universal usability. Goal is to produce 3-5 page white paper on topic. (more...)
International computer ethics and social impacts course modules The global computer network allows allows for a mixing of cultures and economies that has generated issues regarding personal privacy, intellectual property, freedom of speech, and access to information, among others. (more...)
Working Group on a Model  i18n Curriculum   to develop one or more curricular models that provide i18n education for computer science undergraduates, and to analyze their outcomes and benefits, costs and resource needs, and overall feasibility.  Our work will be used to develop recommendations to the ACM/IEEE curriculum committees, the National Science Foundation, and the general computer science education community.(more...)
Article on cs education in Pacific Rim to write a series of articles on computer science education in the Pacific Rim (CPATH partner countries) for publication, either as individual articles, series of articles, or possibly book. These articles will help the CPATH community to understand each other better and serve to inform the international computer science education community. (more...)
CPATH i18n at Wuxi International Software Campus Implement a CPATH i18n presence at the Wuxi campus through curricular and extra-curricular offerings. (more...)
Undergraduate Summer School in Functional Programming. We propose a summer school for undergraduate students and their professors. The purpose of the summer school is several fold. (more...)
Summer School II: Current Topics in Computer Science. We propose a summer school for junior/senior undergraduate students and professors from the CPATH Community to introduce a broad range of current topics in computer science, introduce a team-based approach to problem solving and programming, and provide an opportunity for travel either in Asia or the Pacific Northwest (more...)
CPATH clearinghouse bulletin board Our goal is to produce a first set of requirements for a web-based system to publish this information. By the May workshop, we aim to have a prototype and some experience using it. (more...)
IEEE/ACM/ABET recommendations on model i18n curriculum To write a brief, 4-5 page white paper recommending the addition of i18n topics to the IEEE/ACM Curriculum 2001 for the B.S. degree in Computer Science. This will critique and amplify the recommendations of the IEEE/ACM Computer Science Curriculum Review Taskforce in July 2008. (more...)
Student Forum Our goal is to get a student perspective on the various issues and ideas presented in this workshop. (more...)
