Working Group on Articles on Computer Science Education in the Pacific Rim
Facilitator: Ginnie Lo, University of Oregon
Goal: to write a series of articles on computer science education in the Pacific Rim (CPATH partner countries) for publication, either as individual articles, series of articles, or possibly book. These articles will help the CPATH community to understand each other better and serve to inform the international computer science education community.
Details:My google search indicates that very little has been written about computer science education in the Pacific Rim. In the U.S. there are several excellent places where these articles could be submitted, including the Communications of the ACM, and several prominent conferences on computer science education. Our findings could also be presented as a tutorial at one of these conferences.
Pre-Beijing Workshop Assignment
- Read at least one of the articles listed below.
- Bring additional articles that you have found, in any language.
- Write down an outline of topics to be covered in an article you would be interested in co-authoring.
At the Beijing Workshop
- Discuss the assigned readings.
- Discuss and refine outline of topics.
- Decide overall strategies/approach (languages, translation of existing articles, people to interview, publication targets.)
- Form co-author teams.
- Work in co-author teams to find preliminary resources for these papers.
Reading Assignments
