Pacific Rim Summer School in Global Distributed Software Development and Computer Science

July 18—30, 2010 - Beijing, China

** Please check back regularly for new information. **

Passport and Visa

If you do not have a passport with 6 months remaining validity and at least one blank page, you will need to order a new passport (rush service recommended).

Next you should apply for a TOURIST VISA to visit China. You must use a visa broker.

Students from the U.S.: We recommend www.mychinavisa.com and www.citsusa.com.

Students from Canada: talk to your faculty advisor.

Information for the visa form:

Warning: read the instructions on the broker website carefully, send passport, application, and payment by Federal Express or post office with tracking.

Plane Tickets

You should purchase your plane ticket on your own. You will receive a $400 USD stipend check upon arrival in Beijing.

The current Expedia fares for July travel roundtrip are listed below.

Beware of ticket deals that are much lower than these fares, as we have come across a few that appear to be unreliable. Prices are likely to increase as the summer season approaches.

If you plan to travel in China or Asia before and after the summer school, be aware that orientation takes place Sunday July 18 10 AM and the farewell banquet is scheduled for Thursday evening July 29. Housing is provided from July 17 checkin through July 30 checkout. If you are looking for travel buddies, get to know the other summer school students through the CPATHi18n Summer School 2010 Facebook community (see below).
